Breast Thermography

In honor of Breast Health Awareness month,  I am joining resources with Gaea Powell, board certified breast clinical thermography technician and we are offering a thermography clinic at my office on Friday, October 29th.

I have the same mindset as Christiane Northrup, MD when it comes to language and health. October has been called Breast Cancer Awareness month by the conventional medical community. I believe in changing this focus to one of health and prevention of disease and cancer, and I encourage you to fill your mind with positive, health filled images instead of fear based disease images. Our minds are powerful tools and can be our most effective tool in creating and maintaining health as well as in healing from disease. I love this about thermography – it is a comfortable screening procedure that actually empowers women instead of causing pain and fear. I have seen women inspired by their thermograms to make very positive life changes that have increased their breast health and greatly decreased their risk for cancer.

Thermography is a wonderful screening tool that can measure changes in breast tissue without the radiation and compression that are part of mammograms. Thermograms measure the heat differences in the breast tissue  that can be related to vascular or other physiological changes that can alert us to changes that we may need to monitor and address to enhance breast and hormonal health as well as prevent cancer.

Breast thermograms can even provide more information than mammograms in younger, more dense breast tissue. This is good news especially since the newest recommendations on mammograms are encouraging women to start early mammography later in life. Thermography is also effective for all breast types: after breast reductions, breast implants, fibrocystic breasts and after cancer treatments.

I am so happy that we have thermography now available in our county. For decades we have not had this tool available to us here on the Central Coast. But now with Gaea and other thermography technicians, we have this low cost, safe, effective breast screening tool available locally.
